The Mean Mom

Just ask my 7 year old, he'll tell you. Don't believe him? Ask my 14 year old, if she still leaves you in doubt, my 17 year old can confirm it too.

My little mini escape...

Long weekends are the best weekends.

This past weekend we all went to visit Traci. We had a blast. There was cow milking, sight seeing, game playing, and even a little drinking. (No, I did not need to be helped to bed... )

Kyle has decided that he wants a cow, a 4-wheeler and a 4-wheeler track all in our back yard. Um... No. Sorry. We live 1 house from the city line. The neighborhood association didn't like us having patio furniture on our patio, I really don't think they will like us having a cow in the back yard.

Let me summarize our trip...
Friday went to the Ironbirds game, Kyle got to escort the 1st baseman out onto the field. He was so cute! He got autographs off all the players. We stayed until about the 5th inning or so, and then left to head to Allentown. We were on the road about 45 mins when the heavens opened and it poured. A lot. Hard. It rained all night, and all day on Saturday. We got to Traci's and it was wet, and icky. We kinda hung out there for a while then headed up to see the cows. Kyle was determined to milk all the cows. He only milked one. The calves are adorable, and the kids had a blast playing in the hay.

Sunday, we headed to Cooperstown Fun Park and raced go carts. Then we went to a local brewery... Ommegang. Took a tour, and a tasting. It was fun. After that, we headed to Cooperstown. Home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. We wandered thru the shops, got some fudge, and saw Doubleday Field. It was fun to watch part of a game in an old timey park.

We headed home and then went to the White Trash Redneck Auction. I bought some stuff. I was bit by the auction bug. I got a box of books, and a "mixed lot"... lots of junk basically, but there was a PS2 controller that caught my eye. It was fun. We laughed, at people and at ourselves for the goofy stuff we bid on.

We headed back home for the night, and had a couple drinks (chocolate cake shots... very similar to the Pancake shooter except we mix it with an equal part citrus vodka... yummy!)

Monday, Kay and Traci headed to work, and we headed out sightseeing... we drove a ways to get to get to Fort Ticonderoga. It was really neat... We got there in time for a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Wandered the museum, and took lots of pictures. We drove back by Lake George, it was HUGE! Got back to Traci's and had dinner and then wandered up to hang with the cows... We saw them in their "natural habitat"... LOL!

After that, it was bed time.

Yesterday, we piled all our stuff in and headed home. It's always nice to get away, but it's always nice to come back home. While headed home, StupidX called, said that he and Wifeypoop were taking a couple days to go to OC, MD. The younger 2 went with them. (Kay imed me to tell me that he had Nikki tears about how she never wants to spend time with him, just with me. Can you blame her?)

Anyway... That was our whirlwind weekend. It was great to see Traci, Mark and the kids. To hang out and goof off. Can't wait for the BBQ to get my kid back... I already miss her. but it's still early in the 2 weeks. ;)

I think I need a vacation...

My life is nothing but crazy. I mean that. There is no exaggeration. Let me explain.

My usual day goes like this... Get up earlier than I want, but later than I should, so I have to rush to shower. Go in to wake Kyle up, and that always takes a good 5 minutes. Take him into my room to get dressed... he falls back to sleep before even starting to get dressed. Say "Kyle, it's time to get up and get dressed." 3248 times. Finally help him get dressed. Take Kay to work on the way to dropping off Kyle. Leave Kyle and head to work. Work all day, then leave and go to get Kyle. Go home, walk in the door and have to sit down for dinner. After dinner, fight with older children about who's turn it is to do the dishes, who left what in the living room that doesn't belong there, and listen to whining from Kyle about why he can't go to the neighbor's/play with the dog on the couch/blare mndWRX for all the neighbors to hear (not that I have a problem with it, but some might disagree with letting your 6 year old listen to that... However, I suppose if it weren't for the fact that my brother does play lead guitar, and the lead singer is sort of adopted into my family, it would be different.) After the fighting, and whining, there is bathing and reading. Get the boy in bed, do a load of laundry, (I swear those clothes were just washed! How could they be dirty already?!) look at the mail that came, throw away the 27 creditcard/mortgage/car loan offers, put the bills in the (too large) stack. Put the laundry in the dryer, pick up my current book, and settle in bed to read some. I get 2 pages in, and hubby says he's ready to turn off the light. What?! It can't be that late... what do you mean it's 11:15? Can't be. Sigh... so goes another lovely day...

It's a good thing I'm headed away this weekend... I'm going to Traci's. We are dropping off Kay to work with Traci. I'm gonna milk a cow. We're going to go the scary redneck auction. We're going to visit Cooperstown Fun Park. It's going to be fun. I only have a few more crazy days to go... The mini vacation will start here... after the game we are headed to Allentown, then in the morning onward to Traci's!

I will come home with one less child. I wonder if she'd be willing to keep them all... Maybe a trade... Oh, I know... I'll take her son, she can take both my girls. What? It would be fun, don't ya think? Fine. I'll bring them home.

Oh... and as an added bonus, at the ball game, Kyle will get to escort one of the players out onto the field before the game. You know there will pictures. I'll be the proud mom.

I love the smell of Tupperware in the morning...

I like to shop. Ok, I love to shop. My bank account? Doesn't love it as much as me. I love a good deal though.

The other day, I needed flea stuff for the cats... I usually buy it from Drugstore.com so I headed there again. They were having a great freebies sale, so while there, I picked out a couple other things, and ended up with a really nice tote bag, and a cute pair of socks from Burt's Bees. Score!

Then one of my really good friends Amy sells Tupperware. They are having a Christmas in July sale... each day a different item at an incredible price. Gotta love it. So Day 1 was the Mystery Box... $50 worth of storage goodies for way less than that. I ordered one. It arrived yesterday. There were bowls, and containers, a veggie peeler and a cup. Cool stuff. I was very excited, and tried to spread that to Hubby... Him? Not as excited as me. Oh well...

Anyway... I'm now off to find the next Big Deal! Do you know of one?

Oh... and my latest time waster? Thanks to the dear Hubby, is this. And one that I found. (I'll be adding these to my links list... have something you want to share? Put it in the comments.)

Wow, it's been a week?

What have I been doing?! Absolutely nothing it would seem. And that would be right. Nothing exciting. Normal everyday boring stuff. Not even out of the ordinary boring stuff...

Anyone have suggestions on how to make a snake eat? Cleo shows a keen interest in my hand while I'm messing in her tank, and has even lunged once (yeah, go ahead, freak out... I wasn't very worried.) while I was misting her bedding stuff. The ugly rat? nothing. No interest in it what so ever. I've tried live, I've tried fresh killed, I've tried frozen and defrosted and heated a bit. Nothing. I'm open to suggestions. I do know they are picky eaters. I also know they can go a while with out eating, so I'm not really too overly concerned, but I am getting a little worried.

Typical Summer here so far... kinda. Lots of rain it seems, followed by days on end of no rain. We flood, then we get to the point where everything is almost dry and dying.

So, you know it's boring when I'm talking about the weather in my Blog...

Oh... I did have some fun this weekend... we went to Toby's Dinner Theater and saw Footloose. The tickets were free... I won them at the fair. Not sure I could have gotten Hubby to go if we had to pay. We kind of wondering about the one they are doing this winter.... It's a Wonderful Life. One of my all time favorite movies, turned musical... I think I should stay very far away. Anyway, the show was good. The songs were all recognizable, and performed very well. And, surprisingly, we weren't the youngest ones there! LOL!

Ok... that is just sad, when going to a dinner theater is my big excitement for an entire week.

I'm going to go find something fun to do. Really fun! I'm taking suggestions... got any?

Happy Independence Day!

So, today is the 4th of July. Is everyone celebrating? (Happy belated Canada Day to my friends in the great white north. :) ) So, this morning, on my day off work, I was up at 6:30 to take Kay to work, then headed out to the parade. Our "little" parade lasted about 2 1/2 hours. There were marching bands, war veterans, and lots of politicians shaking hands and kissing babies. It's always nice. Since our community is close, you are guaranteed to see someone you know. We did... the guy driving the bookmobile. America's Miss Maryland Jr Teen. Oh, and Tenderheart Bear and Ronald McDonald.

After sweating too much, we headed home. Kids were supposed to go to StupidX's today, and watch the fireworks tonight with him, but both girls are headed in different directions. Kay has a BBQ to go to, at a friend's that lives next to where they shoot off the fireworks. Nikki is headed to a friend's and they are skipping the fireworks. When StupidX called to ask Kyle if he was going to go with him to see the fireworks, he said he didn't want to go. He wanted to see "mom's" fireworks. Oh well... so much for a quiet evening... Hubby and I were even trying to figure out if we could take a pass on the fireworks. Guess we aren't now. So, I'll spray down with bug spray, drive 30 mins to go 3 miles, sit on a crowded field, and then do the reverse drive. But you know, I'm not complaining. I can do all this because I'm an American. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. And I'm proud of my country.

I hope that all of you are too.

Happy Independence Day!
