The Mean Mom

Just ask my 7 year old, he'll tell you. Don't believe him? Ask my 14 year old, if she still leaves you in doubt, my 17 year old can confirm it too.

Non Rally weekend...

We had plans to head to DC for a rally, but didn't make it. Other stuff came up, Ky was a bit cranky and that would have made for a long day...

I then read about the rally in the paper, and they said that there were people from the other point of view and that things got slightly loud and obscene. I'm kinda glad on that account that we didn't go, but I really wanted to show my support for what I believe in.

As Hubby says... Silence implies consent. This isn't something I can be behind. I have family there and he needs to come home to see his brand new baby grow up.

I know there are people who are very passionate about what ever side of the line they are on. I'm not saying you have to agree with me. I'm saying this is what I believe, and what I think should happen.

Support the troops... bring them home.

Today

Say a prayer.
Light a candle.
Hold your family a little closer.
Never forget.

If I promise not to drool into the keyboard...

Can I nap at my desk?

Last night, I started a new dishcloth, and wanted to get at least some of it done before bed. At about 11:25, I laid it aside, kissed the hubby, and went to sleep.

Not even an hour later, though it felt later, the dog started going nuts. Barking and growling and just being very loud. This would have passed rather quickly, except when she's on Ky's bed, she can see out his window. This was her main focus. Something was out there and by all means she was going to bark at it.

Shooed her off to her crate, settled Ky back in and then noticed the lights. Flashlights. Not just any flashlight though, these were the big spotlight kind. Shining all over the neighbors yard. In his trees, in the bushes, at his house. Oh Puh-lease. I waited a few minutes and they didn't go away. Then I see that one of the people is the guy across the alley. I have no idea what they are looking for, nor do I care. I just want to go to bed. I start to walk away, and then I hear the yelling. From one side of the alley and yard to the other. Dorks.

That was it. It was now almost 1 am. I called the cops. Let me explain though, I am not a "cop caller" by nature. If people want to be stupid, as long as they aren't messing with my stuff, they can be stupid all they want. When they mess with my stuff or keep me awake, that's a different story. They sent a patrol car. He then shone his big spotlight in the yard.

This would have been the end of it, except that then Ky couldn't seem to get back into a sound sleep. He was worried about the people in the back yard. About the dog whining in her crate (we then went and let her out of the crate since the neighbors had all gone in). He had a cramp in his knee, he had to get a drink, he had to go to the bathroom.

Then there was me... I couldn't get comfy. I was too cold, I was too hot, I was thirsty...

I couldn't get into a sound sleep either. I heard hubby's alarm going off at 4 something... way too early, then I heard Ky asking where I was. He went back to bed. Then he was in my bed again at 5:15. Then he was in his own bed. When the alarm went off at 5:30, I was one sleepy, ain't gonna get up, you can't make me person. I think tonight, I'm going to bed early, and if those dorks are outside in the middle of the night again, I'll let the dog go out and bark at them.

I think I need more coffee... or something...
